Sound project

Summary

I learned about (a)synchronous sound, (non)diegetic, sound over, sound motif, sound bridge, sting, and foley.

From foley, I learned that it is the creation of sound with objects. You could use Shepard tone, Shepard-risset. I learned there is one singer and 2 foley artists

Directions

We are supposed to create a 1-2-minute-long audio recording with no video. Four of the sounds were supposed to be created by using random objects on a "foley stage." We were to record the process of creating the sounds with Foley. We were supposed to turn in our sound project, video evidence of foley creation, and 1-3 images of our editing timeline.

I chose a scene that is familiar to me, because it would be easy to come up with sounds that are commonly heard.

The outline helped me organize sound by being able to list them and be able to think more about the different types of sounds I could hear.

I used https://freesound.org/ to choose sounds and Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the sound.

I think my choices for audio were well chosen, I would like to improve my editing process for the sound.

Camera shot/angles quiz

Steps

1. Two inanimate objects were to be chosen for a visual story.

2. It must include 15 shots and 10 of the 15 shots must be an establishing shot, a long shot, two medium close ups, two close-ups, and extreme close up, a point of view shot, any type of shot using a high angle, any type of shot using a low angle.

3. Content and organization should be planned

4. Pictures with phones must be in landscape mode.

5. Must be put together in a PowerPoint/Google slideshow. All images must be labeled with shot type/angle and a maximum of 2 lines of why it was used.

I approached the development of the final product with the intent to show how consumerism is bad. My two items were a notebook and a pencil. Throughout my shots I showed how the pencil was used and left behind after each use. I showed the pencil when it lost all its use gathering dust. I meant to show it this way because people leave stuff behind and stop caring what happens to it after it becomes useless, which leads to them not caring about the effects the object may have on the world.

I feel like some pictures were clunky and not fluid while going from one picture to the next. I feel like I had the right idea for a good video but a bad idea for anything else. I should have thought of a storyline that would have worked better with camera shots.
